The mission of the Tamalpais Union High School District is to challenge students to broaden and deepen their learning experiences, to aspire to the passionate pursuit of excellence, and to develop as thinking and caring individuals who will leave our schools with the skills to be life long learners and to succeed in their personal, academic and professional lives.

The Tamalpais Adult School is relatively small. The GED/High School Diploma program offers a day time program for GED preparation and an evening program on Tuesday and Thursdays. The day time program is computer based. The evening program is an open lab where students are working on courses or GED preparation materials through individualized instruction. Generally, for one hour of the three hour "lab" students work individually. For one hour there is direct instruction for GED Math and Writing preparation and for one hour, some students work with PLATO, computer-based instruction. There are two teachers and an aide in the "lab".
