The mission of South San Francisco Adult Education is to educate adults so they will have the academic, English language, and basic life skills necessary to function successfully in our society. The staff is committed to helping adult students transition to post-secondary / vocational education, employment, and competence in daily living and to encouraging the pursuit of life-long learning and enrichment in order to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

South San Francisco Adult Education is a comprehensive center for life-long learning. Whether you are an adult looking to enrich your personal life or in need of acquiring or improving a job skill, South San Francisco Adult Education has something to offer. Computer, electronics, and nursing classes are available. The Adult Secondary Education department issued 52 diplomas and 128 GED certificates last year and the preparation classes are free.

State funding has allowed South San Francisco Adult Education to teach the English Language to hundreds of adults new to this country. In the Community Based English Tutoring Program, the school provides classes in the community to help parents develop their own literacy skills teaching them how to help their children in school. These classes are free.

Parenting classes, boating and motorcycle safety, art, aerobics, and conversational Spanish and Italian are only a few of the many classes available to adults and seniors at the main campus.  In addition, there are classes designed just for older adults at several locations throughout the community.
