San Juan Adult Education

The San Juan Unified School District serves more than 40,000 students in 78 schools and special education centers, preschools. and adult education programs in Sacramento County ,

San Juan Adult Education currently serves over 17,000 students each year in program areas of ABE, ASE, ESL, EL Civics, Vocational Education, Parent Education, Older Adults, Adults with Disabilities, and Community Education. Three adult schools and numerous off-site locations hold day and evening classes and offer distance leaming. Winterstein Adult Center is the largest program in San Juan Adult Education.

In the mid eighties, the program at Winterstein was seamless for Lao Thao. She was able to share with her ESL teacher and foreign student advisors that her dream was to finish high school. A smooth transition to ABE to improve basic skills ultimately led to a full participation in the ASE program.
