Livermore Adult Education
Welcome to Livermore Adult Education. All community members
eighteen and over are invited to participate in our free and low-cost Adult
Education programs. Day, evening, and weekend courses, and online
opportunities for adult learners open doors and deliver success.
Adult learners include those who are seeking a high school diploma,
improved English skills, employment, citizenship, civic participation, improved
parenting skills, CPR/First Aide, as well as leisure pursuits and personal
growth.
Local business is invited to encourage employees to improve their
educational level and job skills. Classes can be set up on-site or
at the Adult Education site. Some of our popular classes for job placement
include: Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOUS), Intensified Computer
Training, Pharmacy Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy.
The Livermore Adult Education program offers 10 ESL classes at 3 levels, with
3 classes in the summertime. Thanks in part to government grants, students
have access to a variety of textbooks and materials such as CDs, DVDs, TV
overhead projector and an ESL computer lab. Babysitting services are provided,
and there is a bilingual secretary for the program. Veronica Navarro has
been instrumental in obtaining and implementing these improvements, working
closely with the principal and teachers who rely not only on her perspective
as a former English learner and her rapport with our ESL students, but on
her dedication, "people skills" and organizational talents.
